Have you ever wondered what the favorite hobbies of a Journalist are or what cool things there are to collect and do? Well, you’re about to find out. In this article, you’re about to get a look into the hobbies of student journalist Ian Utter. You will see many great pictures of his favorite things to do and what it’s like around his community.

First off, these are some of his favorite posters. They are NAU posters that he has collected from some of the NAU-themed nights that they have at the Diamondbacks games; he is choosing to either go to ASU or NAU in the near future. Other things on this side of the wall include accomplishments from his senior year at Sunny Slope High School. The helmet represents the Jan Arnold Award that he won for being the strong voice of the team; other things include photos of his time with the team and the paper that has the lyrics to Sunny Slope’s alma mater.

Next up is the right side of the wall. This contains all Diamondback-themed posters; they include pictures of a few notable moments in Diamondback history. Including Tony Womack’s famous Father’s Day Grand Slam, Randy Johnson’s 20-strikeout game, and Luis Gonzalez’s famed hit that won them the 2001 World Series against the New York Yankees. Interesting thing: the jersey that is on the top left of the wall is actually the jersey that Gonzalez wore when he got that hit. Ian’s dad won it at an auction at Odyssey Aquarium back in 2019. The rest of the things on this side include a baseball-shaped pennant that has all of that 2001 team’s signatures, a D-backs rally towel, and another pennant showing their logos from over the years.

Next up are a few of his favorite items he likes collecting a lot; they are his bobbleheads. The bobbleheads are several of the Diamondbacks’ fan favorites. Occasionally on Saturdays, they will give them out before the beginning of the game, but they only give them out to a certain number of people who get theirs first, such as the first 20,000 to 25,000. But he is always on time and is always among the first group of people to get it. Other collectables include D-back-themed snow globes that they have also given out. The bottom of the shelf includes baseball books and his yearbook from his year at Sunnyslope.

Next up is Ian’s dog Goldie. His dad got him from a friend who had found him stray about 4 to 5 weeks ago. He has been trained very well to go to the bathroom outside, but he is being trained not to bite and to be so hyper all the time. When he does bite, it might be an indication that he wants a chew toy; his favorite chew toys are definitely his bone and his colorful rope. When he is finally relaxed, he will either lie on the floor or on the couch.

Moving right along, we go to the outside of Ian’s apartment. This is the main apartment office. It is where several events for the community are held, such as a pumpkin decorating contest, birthday events, fun treats to give out, and on occasion, Halloween and Christmas parties. This is also where you go to make maintenance requests and get set up to move in.

Last but not least, this is the apartment pool. The pool is very colorful and lit up at night. It is where anyone can have a pool party or just take a nice, relaxing dip after a long, busy day; it even includes a hot tub. The area where you see the decorated cacti is where they have the waterfall, but that only operates mainly during the day. This is where Ian likes to go a lot of times just to get out and get some deserved relaxing time from his busy days.

Ian hopes that you all out there can get out and enjoy some hobbies like these. It’ll help take a load off your plate and get off your phones more often. You never know what good stuff is out there to collect, see, and do in the world if you don’t try.

This has been the life and hobbies of Ian Utter.
