Therapy dogs arrived at the GCC Library to help ease students and staff
Therapy dogs Logan and Cooper brought relief and smiles to the GCC Library on Thursday morning, as students and staff took a break from studying to relax and de-stress with the certified dogs during an opportunity campus event.

On Thursday morning, September 10th, the usually quiet atmosphere of the GCC Library filled with excitement as two certified therapy dogs, Logan and Cooper, visited campus. Wearing vests labeled “Therapy Dogs,” the friendly dogs provided comfort to students and staff, giving everyone a chance to take a break from studying or work and relax.
Students and staff gathered at the circle seats to greet the dogs, petting them and watching them perform tricks like sitting, lying down, offering paws, and giving high fives. The dogs’ handlers, including Linda Rose, encouraged interaction and rewarded the dogs with treats for each trick. “We were invited just to come for the students and staff, to spread joy and smiles,” Rose said. “Sometimes we come before finals to help ease anxiety.”
Logan and Cooper, both five years old, have been certified therapy dogs for three and a half years. Their work takes them to a variety of high-stress environments, including courts, police stations, 911 call centers, and even Sky Harbor Airport, where nervous travelers can find comfort in Cooper’s presence.
This event shows that spending time with therapy animals can reduce stress and boost mood. The event welcomed students, faculty, and staff, reminding the campus community to take time to recharge, especially when they came during periods like the start of semesters, midterms, and final exams.
By the end of the session, many participants left feeling refreshed and ready to conquer their academic responsibilities, thanks to the therapy dogs that day.
