First Morning Making Zines at the GCC Library

On my first morning, October 9th at 7:30 a.m. I arrived at the Glendale Community College library. I spotted a long desk near the computer lab, and I saw a small event called Zine Making Week. I decided to participate for a new experience. A lot of crafting supplies were laid out on the desk. So I picked up stickers, tape, markers, and colored pencils.

At first, I saw the instructor’s paper in a clear display stand. So I learned step by step how to make a zine. It came out so well and was easy to fold, cut, and assemble into a small book. I tried to add cut-out letters, but realized I needed tape or glue with a roller to do double-sided stick-on. But I ran out, so I added some doodles and art to the zine. It was a simple craft, but it’s fun to put things into a smaller zine, whether you add storytelling, illustrations, how-tos, or collages.

After I’m done with my zine book, it’s still in the drafting process. So I decided to take this picture, with the third of the frame looking quiet and clear. It may be hard at first, but it gets easier once you make zine paper. Then I had my friend join me, and she enjoyed her part, filling the zine with her talent for drawing each Saja Boys member from K-pop Demon Hunter. She added a figure of Jinu next to her zine.

I really recommend this zine book design to anybody. You can add your own personal notes, doodles, drafts, collages, a sticker collection, and more to this small book. I’m very happy to participate in this event at the library.
