Big Fun at Arizona’s Big Lake
Visitors and locals alike are flocking to Big Lake this week to go fishing and hiking before the season ends. Located in northern Arizona, Big Lake is only open for a few more weeks until it is shut down for the winter.

With temperatures still in the 100s at the beginning of October, Arizona is sure burning some of us out. However, not all of Arizona is still stuck in Summer. Located in the White Mountains, Big Lake is a renowned spot for people who want to get away from the busy city life and fully immerse themselves in nature. Despite being off-grid, the lake still remains highly accessible for visitors. It is an amazing place to bring family and friends who are looking for a little change in the form of a short road trip.

The lake is a major hotspot for fishing amongst locals. Offering a plentiful stock of bass and trout, the lake is a perfect place to go for recreational or sport fishing. People of all different ages and skill levels can be seen getting into the fishing spirit together.

Big Lake also offers plenty of other experiences for those not into fishing. With the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests surrounding it, the lake is left calm, undisturbed by any outside interference. On top of the breathtaking sight of hills and trees which go on for miles, animal and plant life at the lake run rampant. These excellent sightseeing opportunities make the location a popular hiking spot amongst those who wish to be immersed in the national forests’ full experience.

Due to heavy snowfall and extreme ice, roads leading up to Big Lake are closed off in the winter months. So, while time and weather conditions allow, many are rushing to take advantage of the pleasant temperatures and get in some last minute vacation time.
Whether you are into fishing or just love nature, Big Lake offers a great range of experiences for everyone.
