Hello everybody, my name is Nathan Pestka, and I’m honored to be hosting the first episode of The Weekly Gaucho Podcast, and I’m hoping to get the series off to a good start for the rest of the JRN213 online class! I wanted to take this opportunity to talk about the cross country and track program at Paradise Valley Community College and what the last couple of years have looked like here. Starting with talking about my freshman year of cross country and what it was like to win the NJCAA National Cross Country Championship on November 12th, 2022. Then, I go into detail about the 2023 indoor and outdoor track & field seasons and what those entailed.
Following that, I was able to talk about this past cross country season, and how it felt to lose our national title defense. Finally, I wrapped up the episode talking about the current season, what the future ahead looks like and giving an appreciation for the time I’ve spent here at Paradise Valley.
I hope you guys enjoy the episode, and I hope I was able to get off on the right foot with this series of podcasts that we’ll be going through!

This is Nathan Pestka, he attends Paradise Valley Community College and he is on the Cross Country & Track and Field Team. He is currently studying Journalism & Media Studies, and is taking some online course at Glendale CC to fulfill his needed requirements for the degree. Nathan is looking to transfer to a university next year to continue his academic and athletic journey. Some of his goals is to find a place in the sports world where he can exemplify his writing skills and make an impact using his previous experiences through school and collegiate sports. In relation to this project, Nathan hopes to be able to connected with like-minded individuals and be able to share ideas with what place they may have in the journalism world. He is planning on taking the skills learned in this class, along with everything else he has learned through Maricopa community colleges, and apply them to the next step in his academic journey.
