Glendale Community College is excited about having a spirit week for their students to show their pride and host activities for everyone to participate in from Monday, September 23 to Thursday, September 26. Some of these activities include games to play, dancing, and being able to have lunch with other students. All students who visit will be able to participate and be able to make new friends without having to pay for an admission fee and only having to go to the campus.
Each activity will be held on different days during the week. On Tuesday, September 24, it is focusing on wearing tie-dye to support both the men’s and women’s soccer teams from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the soccer field. Then on Wednesday, September 25, it is focused on wearing crazy socks and listening to songs by Prince. Additionally, there will also be a volleyball game for the 2014 National Women’s Volleyball Team taking place in the gymnasium from seven p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Finally, on Thursday, September 26, students will be wearing eyewear such as shades, glasses, or sunglasses for Cool Shades Day. From 10:30 a.m. to one p.m., students can take photos with Coages Kim and Kris, GCC Kool Line, and Gaucho Cool at the Student Union.
“I’m looking forward to participating as much as I can,” said a GCC student. “This’ll be my first time participating in a spirit week and everything sounds really great.” When asking students around campus, most seemed excited and looking forward to the events for next week’s spirit week.
Overall, having a spirit week helps students connect better and have the opportunity to participate in limited events. It’s very common for schools to do their school colors or do a sort of theme that’s popular at that time.
All the information is available on the Glendale Community College website under the Events tab. There is a link for each day during the week and each link has the same information on the page when going to the certain links. The website also has more information about other upcoming events that all the students and staff can attend.
Don’t miss out on the events that are upcoming! The Events tab on the GCC website is always being updated and gives all the information that is needed such as times, dates, and locations.
Hi Ayla! Your article was super well written and included so many good details. I think you did super well describing what Spirit Week is, what it includes and offers to students such as the activities it provides, and how you can show your own spirit by wearing outfits to match the vibes. I thought you did an amazing job by including all of the necessary information so anyone who is interested in any of the events can easily find out when, where, and how to be there. Most of all I really liked how at the end of your article you included some information about why Spirit Week is important and how it helps connect students. The way you wrote your article made it sound so warm and inviting which felt perfect for what news you are promoting. I also like how you added where to find even more information after providing a good amount of resources so that anyone nervous about attending or participating could read up more on it. I think your post makes potential participants feel excited and well-informed. Overall, great job on this post I can tell how much thought and effort you put in and it really reflects onto the reader.
