There is much to be said about dogs and how much joy they can bring into someone’s life. Of the 340 different types of dog breeds, there are some that people will always prefer over others, such as my own family’s love for Labradors. With any dog breed that you have or plan to have in the future, there are always positive and negative stereotypes that come with them, whether they are born from years of miss care from owners or general decade-long spans of general observation. There is always going to be something that someone has to say when it comes to whatever breed you own; this can be applied to cats, birds, hamsters, or any other pet. But no matter what people might say, pets are family, and for my household, we have always had an affinity for dogs due to how loving and happy they can be; my two current dogs, Wheatly and Theodore, they’re little balls of sunshine, genuinely some of the sweetest dogs I’ve ever owned but they are also so strange.

To stray slightly off-topic, the idea that cats and dogs have to be pitted up against each other is such a strange notion considering how they can both be phenomenal pets and can cater to whatever an owner might need; for example, if you’re someone whos super busy a cat might be better suited, but if you like to be active and out of the house a dog might be a better fit. It’s all up to what an owner can manage or what they want. There is never a simple answer in regard to what someone should own or what is objectively better. It’s dependent on the person and their needs. No matter what you like or what you prefer, you should always treat a pet as family.
